Poor Man About Town

We are living in narcisstic times. The New Labour Government has given the go-ahead to allow scientist to carry research on human embryos, they have become laboratory rats. As a Humanist, no one has the right to do this. What is the reason for this? Designer babies, New Model Parents demanding children in their own image!. Sounds somewhat Nazi to me. Yes, it has been postulated that a child can have the DNA of three parents. Yep, childless couples can share have their own characteristics grafted onto a child.

I heard on LBC today that New Labour is setting up an enquiry as to why there has been a severe drop in its membership. It seems that they are shelling out a lot of money for this. More party subscriptions going down the drain for answers which are glaringly obvious Blair, Cronyism, throwing money at the rich, selling out public interests, outsourcing and carrying the Thatcherite Torch. Former Labourmembers did not buy into New Labour; they left in their droves. It seems that membership has been halved from 400 000 to around 200 000 since Blair took over.

Following an after-dinner speech when John Humphries had made some quips about certain celebrities in the New Labour Government, the ever sensitive Blair administration registered formal complaints about John to the degree that a "dossier" will be compiled . Wow! These were light-hearted remarks where he described Gordon Brown as excruciatingly boring that he did not look forward to interviewing him. Another quip involved Peter Mandelson, he said that he asked someone why people take an instant dislike of him and the reply was that "it saves time".

I am wondering where the fire is - administrations attract this kind daily. This was made in the context of an after-dinner speech, a private matter.

The thing is that we would not have known anything about these remarks had the complaint not been made. Now we know, I am left thinking - is this where a certain political principle is trying to grasp at any credibility it has in terms of its image. It calls to mind when school pupils booedTony Blair and the press officials attempted to put the spin that they were not booing but cheering and that this is the street style of doing so.

I was passing this place where some flats are being built, the advertising stated "Affordable Luxury £240 999". I see that greedy property developers and estate agents have hijacked the word "affordable". Who the fuck can afford £249 999? Many people can't even a bin liner to sleep in.
